With a dream of crafting a unique coffee experience that goes beyond the cup, Etienne founded Ground Central. His commitment to serving happiness, one cup at a time, has made Ground Central a beloved part of New York's coffee culture. Whether he's behind the counter or mingling with guests, Etienne embodies the spirit of community and personal touch that makes our cafes so special.

GC Beginnings
Etienne Wiik's path to entrepreneurship began with a background in hospitality and HEC Entrepreneur master's degree. Etienne returned to his roots in the coffee industry and opened the first GroundCentral on 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan in 2013, despite skepticism about the high rent. The coffee shop soon became a success, reflecting Etienne's vision of creating welcoming, lounge-like spaces with unique decor that tells the story of the neighborhood.
Ground Central now boasts ten locations, primarily in Midtown Manhattan, an area known for its high foot traffic and bustling business environment. Each location features comfortable seating, custom murals, and even books for sale, offering a cozy retreat from the city's hustle and bustle.
